What UniMax collects, why it collects it, and who else can see it. Written in plain language.

Last updated: October 12, 2026

1.

Who this covers

UniMax is a web app operated from Canada at getunimax.app. This policy explains what happens to your information when you use it.

If anything here is unclear, email support@getunimax.app and we will explain it.

2.

What you give us

When you create an account, we receive your email address and name from Clerk, our authentication provider. If you sign in with Google, the same fields come from your Google profile. We never see or store your password.

Everything else is what you type in: semesters, courses, class times and rooms, assignment titles, weights, grades, due dates, course notes, study material you paste, which study sessions you check off and how long you studied.

3.

What we collect automatically

Your interface language, so the app can show English or French. Your light or dark theme preference is kept in your browser, not on our servers.

We also record a timestamped row each time you use an AI feature, so we can enforce free plan limits. It stores which kind of action it was, never the content.

We also note which steps of the app you complete, such as adding your first course, opening a study plan, or starting checkout, so we can see where UniMax works and where it doesn't. These records hold the kind of step and internal ids, never what you typed, and they stay in our own database rather than with an analytics company. Page views are counted with Vercel Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and does not follow you across other sites.

4.

How the AI features use your text

Two features send text to Google's Gemini API: syllabus import and study plan generation. The text you paste is transmitted to Google for processing, and the structured result comes back to us and is saved to your account.

Please do not paste anything into those fields that you would not want processed by a third party AI provider. Google's handling of that text is governed by Google's own terms.

5.

Payments

Payments are processed by Stripe. Card numbers never reach our servers. We store only your Stripe customer ID and subscription ID, so the app knows whether your account is on the Pro plan.

6.

Where your data is stored

Application data lives in a PostgreSQL database hosted by Neon in the United States. The app runs on Vercel, and DNS is managed by Cloudflare.

This means your information is stored and processed outside Canada, and may be subject to the laws of the countries where those providers operate.

7.

Cookies

We use only the cookies the app needs: Clerk's, which keep you signed in, one of ours that stores your time zone so dates in the app follow your clock, and one that remembers you closed this week's review. We do not run advertising cookies or tracking cookies. The focus timer keeps its state in your browser's storage, not on our servers.

8.

Keeping and deleting your data

We keep your data for as long as your account exists. When your account is deleted, we delete the account record and everything attached to it: semesters, courses, assignments, study plans, study logs, and AI usage records. The app activity records described above stay only as anonymous counts, with no link to you.

To delete your account, open Settings, choose Manage account, then Delete account. You can also email support@getunimax.app and we will do it for you.

9.

Your choices

You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email support@getunimax.app and we will respond within 30 days.

If you subscribe to your UniMax calendar from Google, Apple or Outlook, that service fetches your course codes, class times, deadlines and study sessions through a private link you created. Reset the link in Settings to cut it off.

10.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your information. We share it only with the providers needed to run the service: Clerk for accounts, Neon for the database, Vercel for hosting, Google for the AI features, Stripe for payments, and Cloudflare for DNS.

11.

Age

UniMax is built for university students. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

12.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will also be announced inside the app.
